Orica regularly conduct specially tailored blasting courses around
Australia.

These are designed to increase skills and knowledge in improving the safety and efficiency of blasting operations in the Underground, Surface and Quarrying & Construction industries.

The course's have been developed over many years and cater to those people who have limited experience through to those with many years of blasting experience. Course content changes regularly ensuring that the latest technology and learning is discussed.

Shotfiring and Support Shotfiring Courses

Orica is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO ID: 7113) with qualifications in surface extraction and underground metalliferous mining on our scope of registration. We are registered to deliver nationally recognised training outcomes in all Australian States and Territories. Included under the qualifications on our scope are specific units of competency that form skill sets in surface and underground shotfiring.
 
The completion of Orica's Support Shotfirer course leads to the award of a statement of attainment for RIIBLA201D Support Shotfiring Operations, which forms a pathway towards shotfiring. 
 
The completion of Orica's surface and underground shotfiring courses leads to the award of a statement of attainment for Shotfiring Skills sets as per www.training.gov.au.
 
Applicants should confirm specific local legislation requirements at the time of application.

Safe and Efficient Blasting Courses

These courses provide participants with principles that will assist them in managing or conducting blasting operations. The course is run over 2 to 3 days and covers all aspects of the blasting process in all mining and quarrying markets.
 
Course Objective
To give course participants a greater understanding of drill and blast design choices and methods so they can carry out their jobs with greater: 

  • Safety – without risk of injury or damage
  • Efficiency – maximising blast performance while optimising blast costs
Note, the course provided does not align with any nationally accredited training outcome.
 
Course Delivery
The course is delivered in convenient major centres around the country close to main mining areas. Courses can also be run on-site upon request.
