Thank you to all local residents who attended the Community Information Session on Orica’s proposal or joined us for a Site Tour of the former Rosemount Winery site.
There was a high level of interest in the community about the proposed future use of the site and over 90 people came along to the consultation events to provide feedback.
We appreciate that you took the time to learn more about the proposal and share your local knowledge about the site and its surrounds.
We heard a range of views, particularly regarding:
- Traffic and transport;
- Hazard and emergency management;
- Environmental impacts including stormwater management; and
- Employment opportunities.
Orica is proposing to use the former Rosemount Winery Site as an ammonium nitrate distribution and storage facility. We would like to reiterate that Orica has no plans to relocate Kooragang Island facilities to the Denman site. There are no plans to move any other facilities to this site. Additionally, any further development on site will undergo the appropriate planning processes, which will include community consultation.
We thank you again for contributing your feedback and look forward to working with you in the future.
The proposal has already been on exhibition, with more than 20 people lodging submissions with Council during the exhibition period.
Council has provided Orica with a summary of issues arising from community submissions, and requested further information regarding the project.
Once Orica has addressed these issues and provided Council with the requested information, Council will evaluate the proposal. Orica understands that a decision will be made over the coming months.
