Proposal
Proposed Ammonium Nitrate Storage and Distribution Facility on the former Rosemount Winery Site
Many industries and companies in the Hunter Region rely on Orica to supply them with ammonium nitrate (AN). The former Rosemount Winery site, which sits on the eastern side of Rosemount Road, approximately six kilometres northwest of Denman, is well located to service the region.
The site is already significantly developed for industrial or commercial purposes and is surrounded by agricultural land and vegetation. The site’s existing infrastructure requires minimal works to transform it into a safe storage and distribution facility.
Orica proposes that the buildings on site be retained with minor upgrade works to meet the relevant Australian Standards for AN storage. The proposed works are set back from Rosemount Road and not easily visible from any public viewing point.
As a part of the planning process, a Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) has been prepared by Umwelt (Australia) Pty Limited. This process assessed the potential environmental impacts of the proposal and proposes a range of environmental management controls which will mitigate and limit impacts on the environment and community.
A link to the SEE and separate links to each of its appendices are provided below:
