This is a case study detailing the application of the temporary rib pillar (TRP) method using WebGen™ to reduce dilution at the Musselwhite Mine, located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The mine is 100% owned and operated by Goldcorp Inc. and produces 265,000 ounces of gold per annum.

Meandu mine is situated 250km north west of Brisbane in Queensland. The mine currently produces approximately 5 million tonnes of coal per annum for supply to Tarong power station. The record blast was fired on time at 3:11pm Friday the 11th December 2009, and caused no delay to other mining operations at the site. With 1029 detonators, it was the largest single Uni tronic™ blast fired in the world at the time.

In 2009 Anglo American Metallurgical Coal (AAMC) commenced a project to maximise coal recovery across Dawson Mine’s operations. A key element of this project was the implementation of innovative blast design and technology application. It was identified that a key to the success of this program was an electronic detonator that would facilitate these designs.

In September 2009 the i-kon™ Digital Energy Control System® was introduced to AAMC’s Dawson Mine.
