Kemix A
Kemix A is a cap-sensitive emulsion explosive containing 4.5 % aluminium additive. It is packed in tubes of plastic film. Kemix A is detonator-sensitive down to the temperature given in the technical specifications. At lower temperatures, the detonation velocity and flashover distance will decrease.
Kemix A can be used for all kinds of blasting work as a bottom charge or column charge. The product has a density of 1.2 kg/dm3 and can be used in water-filled holes. When charging long holes that are only partly filled with water, the plastic-film tubes must be lowered into the hole carefully, since a free fall can cause the plastic film to split as it meets the surface of the water. If this happens, the explosive will block the hole without sinking to the bottom of the hole, and this can prevent the transmission of detonation over the entire length of the hole.
