Heidaigou coal mine is located in Zhunger, inner Mongolia, China, and belongs to the Shenhua Energy group. At the time of writing, it is the largest single coal mine in China . In 2005, a dragline was bought from BUCYRUS company to optimize their mining methodology. Since the extent of cast directly impacts dragline productivity, the customer has been keen to optimise cast blasting to improve the operating efficiency and productivity of this expensive excavation item.

Meandu mine is situated 250km north west of Brisbane in Queensland. The mine currently produces approximately 5 million tonnes of coal per annum for supply to Tarong power station. The record blast was fired on time at 3:11pm Friday the 11th December 2009, and caused no delay to other mining operations at the site. With 1029 detonators, it was the largest single Uni tronic™ blast fired in the world at the time.

In 2009 Anglo American Metallurgical Coal (AAMC) commenced a project to maximise coal recovery across Dawson Mine’s operations. A key element of this project was the implementation of innovative blast design and technology application. It was identified that a key to the success of this program was an electronic detonator that would facilitate these designs.

In September 2009 the i-kon™ Digital Energy Control System® was introduced to AAMC’s Dawson Mine.
