Safety for you, your collegues and 3rd part

One of the main challenges in rock blasting is to avoid uncontrolled incidences. Fly rock is an event that could be dangerous for both yourself and your colleagues, and for your neighbours. It could be a big financial setback directly and a loss of good will and reputation in the long term. Therefore it is important to get control over the geological conditions, your drilling, charging, timing and stemming. In this paper we will try to highlight some important aspects connected to getting control and introduce methods that can help you and your company.

Most rock types got one or more natural joint sets. Joints sets are defined as repeated parallel joints with different spacing between. Most usual is probably two or three sets. All this joints are potential weakness planes in your blast that could give your detonating charge easier breakage conditions.
