The first generation of the wireless electronic blasting system, WebGen™ 100 is not intended to replace conventional initiating systems, but rather provide another tool to address current industry challenges.

Initially designed for underground applications, WebGen™ 100 can reduce the exposure of people in higher risk environments, delivers significant productivity gains and increases reliability with less misfires, production delays and eliminating the need to re-drill.

    Sub Level Cave Mining

The system offers a significantly safer solution than current practices and has the potential to support an Sub Level Cave (SLC) operation move more material per shift and lower overall cost per tonne. The challenges faced SLC make it an ideal candidate for wireless technology.

    1. Safe Pre-charging: Eliminate the need to work near rill or the brow
    2. Reduce the impact of brow loss: Rings can be fired even
    3. Ribs and Bridges: Reduced with more reliable initiating system and bulk explosive performance
    4. Hole Dislocations or Loss: Reduction in underperforming blast holes due to lead damage or dislocation
    5. Flow & Recovery: Reliable initiation provides more uniform fragmentation and improves ore flow and recovery.

    Pillar Recovery

Temporary pillars can pre-charged using Orica’s WebGen™ primers. Later these pillars can be blasted without the usual rework or re-entry. This approach can increase the production rate and also reduce mining costs. Long term this can have a significant impact on net present value of the resource.

    1. Production rate and recovery
    2. Reduction of paste fill costs
    3. Extraction of pillars without additional development costs
    4. Extraction of stranded pillars
